Alfie Kohn
Alfie Kohn loved using competition or any use of external factor to motivate students whether at home, in school, or the workplace. "Building on this critical view of competition, Kohn questions the effectiveness of hierarchical structures because they rely on the assumption that people will be competitive and want to move up the ladder and these structures make positions of authority unnaturally scarce." Competition is used in many classrooms today and that is because it is effective. I plan on using some sort of competition in my classroom because students love having a prize for doing something right, being noticed, and praised for it.
Haim Ginott
The next theorist that I would like to mention is, Haim Ginott. Ginott's principles as it relates to the classroom are: asking questions and listening to students, brevity, acceptance, and respect. According to Ginott, the teacher would be the facilitator for conversations that include all the students and would address all the important issues, which could be done in a daily opener to get the students thinking. It's crucial to value the contributions and listen to everyone's ideas. Teachers should accept students for their behavior as well as who they are as a person. Teachers shouldn't criticize, but rather guide students to acceptable behavior.
Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky
If you download the file below for Piaget, it will show you the stages he believed in.

I believe in the philosophies of Essentialism and Perennialism along with Piaget and Vygotsky. These philosophies make the most sense when teaching students because they teach moral values in the classroom; this will help maintain control the whole school year. Also, emphasizing knowledge and skills is a philosophy that all people should possess. Moreover, Perennialism is crucial when teaching math, science, or literature because it exposes learners to both the great ideas, and it has endured throughout history and the rigors of logical thought. I will make sure to assess students' learning habits and provide them with the necessary guides to aid them into lifelong learners.
